Book Review

I recently received another book from BookSneeze to read and review. I am so very glad I chose this one, it came at a perfect time in my life!

Beautiful Things Happen When A Woman Trusts God – Sheila Walsh
This was a wonderful and inspiring book about trusting God, even when we don’t understand exactly how or why. Sheila shares her own personal journey as well as explores stories from the Bible of others trusting God.

I was so excited to read this book, it came at the perfect time for me. I really needed some encouragement and to know that others understood my discouragement. Sheila was very open and honest in this book about her own struggles and long journey to get to the place God desired her to be. She also shares the stories of characters from the Bible who also struggled in their own lives to trust God no matter the situation.
I loved the conversational way of her writing, it was as if we were sitting and talking to one another.
There is also a helpful discussion section included. It would be perfect for a small group of women to do together, or simply for you to use as you read the book yourself.
I highly recommend this book to any woman who is struggling with her self worth – in the world or in Christ. It is such an encouragement that you are not alone – there are others who understand what you are experiencing and who want to help you find your way back to where God desires you to be!

*I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishing as part of the BookSneeze program in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.*

a healthy lifestyle

So, about a year and a half ago, I went on a diet. Well, it was supposed to be a lifestyle change – but I didn’t stick to it. The information and plan came from my Maximized Living chiropractor. He is in a network that has great information and wonderful resources if you’re trying to get your whole body back on track!
It’s called The Healing Diet – there are two “tracks” – Advanced and Core. The Advanced diet cuts out all sugar and all food items that turn into sugar. It allows your body to break its addiction to sugars and start actually burning fat. It was intense, but worth it. I lost the 30 pounds I wanted to lose and I felt great! Then I got pregnant, and didn’t stick to it as well. Now, I’m back to where I want to get the rest of this baby weight off and start feeling better again. This diet was designed for people with health issues such as diabetes or those who really need to lose weight and can’t, because your body is just burning the sugars and not the actual fat. After you have reached your weight goal, or health goal, you can start to add in healthy carbs one at a time to see how your body tolerates them. This brings you to the Core diet, it gives you a little more freedom with some good complex carbs. You can find more info about this health plan and whole body wellness here.

Also on the note of changing things, I have often wondered over the years about having a gluten allergy (Celiac disease). About four years ago a relative of mine was diagnosed and when I heard her symptoms, I felt like she was talking about me! I’ve always had problems with my stomach and intestines, but I never got around to getting tested. I noticed when I was on the Healing diet, my body was doing so much better. I started thinking about it again today, when I found this article and realized (again) that I have seven of those symptoms listed.

All that to say, next week I’m starting the Healing diet again! I need to get my body back in shape and kick my addiction to sugars! I’m starting next week, because I’ll be going grocery shopping this weekend. 🙂
I’ll let you know along the way how things work out – and feel free to jump in and join me or ask questions, I’m no expert, but I’ll do what I can!
